How to use Notifications

Notifications are designed to help you never miss a message, even when you are not actively using Workstorm. Notifications utilize push notifications on your desktop, laptop, tablet or phone to notify you of new Messages, Alerts, or Video Conferences directly on your home screen. Most Workstorm members choose to enable Notifications to keep abreast of their messages and recent activity. It’s quick and easy to customize, enable, or disable your Notifications at any time.

Enabling Notifications in Desktop App

The Workstorm Desktop App provides fast and easy functionality without intervention from your web browser. To enable Notifications in the Desktop App, log in to the Workstorm Desktop App and select Settings, or the icon in the top right of your Workstorm window. Then, select Notifications

Next, click the toggle to enable all Notifications. The toggle will change to a teal icon when Notifications are enabled. Additional categories will also appear below for customizing your Notifications. Read more about customizing Notifications in the sections below.

Enabling Notifications in Google Chrome

To enable Notifications in your Chrome browser, log in to Workstorm and right click the icon beside the web address at the top left of your browser. Here, you will see Notifications listed under browser settings. Click the icon to the right of Notifications, then select Allow. This allows Chrome to display desktop Notifications from Workstorm.

Once you have allowed desktop Notifications in your Chrome browser settings, you may enable your Notifications preferences within Workstorm. Start by clicking Settings, Notifications and then turn on the toggle to enable all Notifications. The toggle will change to a teal icon and read Enabled when Notifications are enabled.

Enabling Mobile Notifications

To enable mobile Notifications on your phone or tablet, first download the Workstorm app from the iTunes or Google App Store. If prompted with a question to allow push Notifications from Workstorm, select Allow.

Another way to enable mobile Notifications is to open the Settings icon on your phone or tablet, then select Notifications. Here you will see a list of every application on your phone.

Scroll down to find and select the Workstorm app. Then, click the toggle to Allow Notifications. The toggle should appear green once enabled.

Disabling Notifications

To disable all Notifications, log in to Workstorm and select Settings, then Notifications. Then, click the toggle to the left of All Notifications so that it appears as a grey icon and reads Disabled

To only disable desktop Notifications, right click the icon beside the web address at the top of your browser. Here, you will see Notifications listed under browser settings. Click the icon to the right of Notifications, then select Block. This disallows your Chrome browser from displaying desktop Notifications from Workstorm.

To only disable mobile Notifications, open the Settings icon on your phone or tablet, then select Notifications. Here you will see a list of every application on your phone. Scroll down to find and select the Workstorm app. Then, click the green toggle beside Allow Notifications until the toggle turns grey, marking that Notifications have been disabled.

To only disable Notifications from select members or groups, see below for details on customizing Notifications

Customizing Notifications

To customize your Notification preferences, first click the toggle to the left of All Notifications to enable all Notifications. The toggle should be a teal icon and read Enabled, as described previously.

Once all Notifications are enabled, additional categories will appear below. Here, you may toggle to enable or disable Notifications for Direct Messages, Channel Messages, and more, depending on your account features.

If you wish to receive Notifications only for select individuals or channels, click the dropdown arrow to the left of Direct Messages, Channel Messages or Announcements. This will generate a list of all your messages and allow you to toggle to enable or disable Notifications for each.

If you are new to Workstorm or to the Notifications feature, we recommend beginning with all Notifications enabled. This keeps you informed of new messages awaiting your attention, whether you are actively using the Workstorm platform. Over time, you may begin to customize your Notification preferences to suit your needs and preferences.
